Their King Hrothgar eventually rose to become one of the greatest warlords of the Wastes. Hrothgar Daemonaxe, first King of the Vargs Eventually, they came to dedicate themselves to all the Dark Gods in equal measure. Yet, once they entered Norsca itself, they were able to immerse themselves in the knowledge of the other Chaos Gods also, and began worshipping them as well in addition to Arkhar the Wolf. Under Hrothgar's leadership, the Varg were invincible, consuming their foes in a tide of bloodlust in honour of Khorne. As to why the Vargs left their old homeland to settle Norsca, the tales fall silent, yet nonetheless, led by their mighty king, who wielded a Daemonic Axe bound with the soul of a raging Bloodthirster, the Varg were easily able to overcome the Kurgan and other Norse tribes to carve out their dominion in the northern edges of the peninsula, close to the ravening Shadow of Chaos. Centuries ago, the Vargs were followers of Khorne solely, whom they knew as Arkhar the Wolf, and were led by their legendary founder and cheiftain, the Khornate Chaos Lord Hrothgar Daemonaxe.Īs the tale is told by Varg skalds, it was Hrothgarr who first led the Vargs west across the World's Edge Mountains from their ancestral lands in the Chaos Wastes to settle Norsca. Shrouded by myth and legend, they are reputed to be some of the most bloodthirsty and devoted to Chaos amongst all the Northern tribes.
